Pay Service Robs Canadians of Sports.

Canadians, generally, are fond of their sports. Of course in the winter NHL hockey rules. In the summer its baseball. We also love our Raptors basketball and football. Things have changed this summer.

Sportsnet One was opened on August 14th. It promised baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays, basketball with the Raptors, soccer from Barcleys League and of course hockey, covering the 6 Canadian NHL teams. The owner of Sportsnet, Rogers also owns the Blue Jays and the Rogers Center where the Toronto Blue Jays play ball, made a decision to open up one more channel to handle the overflow. So now the Sportsnet empire includes 5 channels, one each in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa and the new Sportsnet One.

But until you have Rogers service which isn’t available to all Canadians, the new Sportsnet One isn’t available. It seems that one of two things are occurring. Rogers is just not providing the channel to other providers or the other providers won’t air the channel. In any event there goes the 35 Jays games, not to mention the hockey, basketball and soccer a lot of Canadians wont see.

Imagine a luxury yacht.
